Hermantown boys finished second and girls finished fifth at the Lake Superior Conference Track and Field Meet Tuesday afternoon at Cheever Field in Hibbing. The boys trailed first-place Cloquet by only 13 points.
The top two finishers in each event earned All-Conference honors.
Martin Sleen continued his domination of the sprinting events as he won the 100, 200, anchored the winning 4x100 relay team, and finished second in the triple jump.
Tanner Homstad won the high jump, finished second in the long jump, finished third in the triple jump, and was part of the winning 4x100 relay team.
“Even though it was a breezy 85-plus degree day many of our athletes scored PR's, which is what you want to do during this stretch of the season,” said Hawks coach Tyler Homstad.
Adaeze Enemuoh also had a strong performance on the girls side, as she won the 400 and finished second in the 200-meter sprints.
Cora Lord finished second in the discus throw and Campbell Amundson notched a third-place finish in the 800-meter run.
